This qualification applies to individuals working as a pre-media tradesperson. Typically they design and prepare layouts and artwork, manipulate images and text to meet production and design requirements and apply solutions to a defined range of problems associated with, and characteristic to, the print medium. They may also provide some leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

This course consist of face-to-face classroom- based learning, simulated workplace learning as well as 7 hours of work experiance in a printing press a week.

An application can be made for RPL when students have attained the necessary skills and competencies elsewhere (e.g. through work, other modes of studies, etc.). An RPL application form is available from the Learner Administration Services upon request. The learner will be required to provide documentation to support their application. The application will be processed and an assessment will be made in accordance with the TCWA RPL and AQF recognition Policy and Procedure.

Learners, who can demonstrate that they already hold any of the Units of Competency specified above, may be eligible to receive a credit transfer for those units. They will need to submit a verified Certificate or Statement of Attainment issued by a RTO for recognition purposes. Learners who are awarded a credit transfer will be exempted from completing those units at TCWA.
